We have an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Cargo Supervisor to join the Cargo team and play a vital part in our busy and expanding operation. You will supervise and manage the day-to-day Cargo Warehouse operation, ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient movement of cargo through the designated Cargo Warehouse facilities on site, and adherence to HMRC, CAA and BOH operating and security protocols. The successful applicant will manage all Cargo Operatives working safely and efficiently operationally within the Cargo Warehouse environment in accordance with RCA behaviours, external statutory and regulatory requirements and all relevant policies and procedures.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • To manage and ensure a safe, effective, efficient, and compliant operation that meets the daily operational needs of the business.
  • To manage the daily Cargo Warehouse activity to ensure time performance SLAs are met.
  • To oversee operational compliance with all required SOPs within the designated Cargo Warehouses, including but not limited to:
  • Management/oversight of Warehouse inventory control & associated systems
  • Management/oversight of Customs procedures including associated systems and documentation
  • Management/oversight of formal cargo information & movement messaging via the appropriate systems
  • Ensure effective operational communication with other internal and 3rd party supplier teams in accordance with SOPs of the wider cargo logistics chain
  • To complete day to day compliance audits on the appearance and functionality of the Cargo Warehouse facilities and adjacent associated areas, to ensure that they are safe, tidy and well maintained, and that they have the necessary equipment in order to create a professional environment and an efficient and compliant service.
  • To ensure Cargo Warehouse manning levels are maintained and published to ensure enough staff are available to meet the operational need.
  • In conjunction with the Airport Operations Manager and Cargo Operations Manager, to ensure that all staff working within the Cargo Warehouse environment receive suitable introductory and ongoing/refresher training relevant to their position.
  • To attend and give team briefings and ensure daily information is disseminated.
  • To perform other duties as assigned by the Cargo Operations Manager as required.
  • Health & Safety Accountabilities:

    • Whilst at work the post holder will comply with his/her responsibilities conferred by Sections 7 & 8 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. The post holder will:
    • Take reasonable care of the health and safety of him/herself and other persons who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions at work,
    • Co-operate with the Company management so far as is necessary in order that the Company can carry out its statutory duty under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, and all relevant statutory provisions,
    • Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare.

    To support the Cargo Operations Manager in delivering the efficient utilisation of the department to meet the operational needs including prioritising the appropriate resources as determined by the job description.

    You’ll need to adopt a flexible approach to your working hours, at present this opportunity is for four shifts on then four shifts off. This includes early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Shifts start times may vary in length depending on the demands of the Operation.

    Salary – £32,572.80 for 40 hours a week, which involves shift working.
