We are recruiting for the role of Senior Mechanical Handling Engineer to be involved in an industry-leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station. Reporting to the Manager for Reactor Island Mechanical Handling, the Senior Engineer β Reactor Island Mechanical Handling will be responsible for developing fully integrated technical solutions for through-life Reactor Island Mechanical Handling Equipment.
This role, along with other senior engineer roles within the Reactor Island Mechanical Handling team, will focus on developing equipment solutions. The environment is evolving, and flexibility is essential. The candidate will be expected to develop products throughout the entire product lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical equipment design, with a proven track record of delivering complex, safety-critical equipment, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Flexibility and adaptability within the role and team are important as the business develops.
The senior engineer will support the teamβs capabilities and meet demanding requirements from across the business. The successful candidate will produce engineering solutions supported by cross-functional integration, demonstrating the validity of technical solutions, delivering robust designs with safety justifications, detailed mechanical analysis, and Design for X assessments. They will also integrate solutions into the overall design and contribute to cost and program development during this exciting phase of SMR business growth.
