The Credit Analyst will play an important role within our growing Credit Portfolio Management team. Responsible for owning and managing a portfolio of merchants, you will use your judgment to carefully balance risk and reward. Undertaking periodic credit reviews, you will identify risk concerns and take the necessary actions to protect Checkout.com where required, whilst also seeking opportunities to expand relationships with merchants that have favourable credit profiles.
Key attributes for this role are the ability to analyse financial statements and data, distill it into succinct recommendations and to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assess business risk and determine credit risk exposure on existing merchants to determine appropriate course of action.
- Analyse financial, bank and processing statements to assess creditworthiness.
- Prepare concise oral and written summary recommendations regarding findings, issues, and mitigants to risks.
- Own a portfolio of accounts, making credit decisions within an individually assigned approval authority and recommendations as appropriate.
- Assist the Commercial team with customer calls (and occasionally meetings), requiring explanation of specific credit risks and decisions related to those assessments.
- Monitor and investigate merchants’ credit card processing activities using internal and external risk monitoring tools.
- Work closely with the Risk Monitoring team, to provide support on credit risk related topics.
- Identify and help implement solutions for operational efficiencies.
Requirements:
- Experience working within a risk related role, ideally within the payments industry.
- Basic financial analysis skills, with desire to improve and learn.
- Comfortable explaining and communicating difficult decisions to customers.
- A highly analytical team player who loves to evaluate degrees of financial and credit risk.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment.
