The Radiotherapy Department is looking for a caring and empathetic person with good organisational skills to join our team to work closely with them to provide support and care to our patients receiving radiotherapy. Radiotherapy Care Assistants are essential in order for us to provide the best quality of care for our patients.

We actively encourage role development and support staff in achieving their personal goals and aspirations. All staff have the opportunity to work flexible hours; full-time posts work 37.5 hours over four long days with a day off.

  • Care for patients, carers, visitors, and relatives during their visit to the department.
  • To act as chaperone in line with Trust policy.
  • To help with patients.
  • Assist radiographers during procedures.
  • Prepare the treatment room for the patient.
  • Undertake pre-assessment clinics, giving patients information about their treatment.
  • Care for patients as required, reporting to radiographers when necessary.
  • To use the Radiotherapy system (ARIA) as required.
  • To maintain associated records, both paper and electronic.
  • To liaise with a wide range of staff caring for the patient - including medical staff, ward staff, staff from other departments.
  • To participate in the departments Bank Holiday service.

We have 3 Varian Truebeam Linear Accelerators, 1 Canon CT scanner and a Gulmay Superficial unit providing a radiotherapy service for patients with cancer in Shropshire, Telford and mid Wales.
