L'Acadie in Van Buren has an exciting opportunity for a CNA to join their team. The successful applicant will provide direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the charge nurse. This individual will be responsible for carrying out components of the plan of care relating to basic human, social and emotional needs; comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living, personal care needs, nutrition and fluid needs, and elimination needs.
Responsibilities:
- ADLs: Provides hygienic care including but not limited to bed, bath/shower, hair care, shave, and oral care based on the active treatment plans of residents.
- Continuous Active Treatment: Participates in recreation and leisure time activities with residents and ensures active treatment plans are followed timely and accurately.
- Transfer/Ambulation/Safety: Assesses the need for and utilizes patient transfer and friction reducing devices, mechanical lift and appropriate number of assistants to safely reposition or transfer patients following applicable manual lift and proper body mechanic policies and procedures.
- Infection Control: Performs general care activities for patients with special precautions utilizing appropriate technique and following infection control policies.
- Responsibility and Accountability: Personal and professional responsibility for decisions made and actions taken is expected.
Requirements:
- Meets a minimum of 12 hours per year of continuing education (hours submitted to the Health Education Department for recording).
- Meets the unit’s annual competency training requirements.
- Maintains current Heartsaver or BLS.
- CNA/RA – High school diploma or G.E.D., Certified Nurses’ Assistant certification.
- DTA – Certified Nurses’ Assistant certification, 60 hours in-service training, and 3 months full-time experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities - if applicable.
Schedule: With consideration to our patients’ and staff needs, you may need to work on days, evenings, nights, weekends and/or holidays and may need to float to other units.
