Element Digital Engineering is a leading provider of specialist engineering simulation, design, and consultancy support to clients across many industries - including Aerospace, Automotive, Energy, Built Environment and Chemical Process - in the UK and internationally. Our technical work covers everything from using experience judgement and simple hand calculations, system level 1D modelling to detailed component level 2D/3D simulations; always mindful of the need to use the appropriate level of analysis fidelity to produce practical solutions for our clients.

As a part of our team, you will play a central role in providing our clients with design support and verification services, operational troubleshooting, and technical safety assessments. Due to growth, we are looking to recruit an Engineer with experience in Gas Turbine Performance to provide support to our clients and further advance the development of our in-house capability. This position will involve plenty of hands-on gas turbine performance work with an opportunity for individual growth and development. This position can be based at either our Derby or Bristol offices.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development of our in-house Gas Turbine performance modelling and analysis capability.
  • Act as a day-to-day interface with our clients on the subject of Gas Turbine performance modelling and analysis, including the programme and technical management of defined work packages.
  • Carry out a range of gas turbine modelling and analysis tasks to support client project needs and deliverables.
  • Support the development of new modelling approaches and techniques on behalf of Element and our clients.
Skills / Qualifications

We are looking for people who:

  • Have a Bachelor's degree (grade 2.1 or above), Masters or PhD in a relevant engineering, science or applied mathematics discipline, preferably with a strong Gas Turbine and Thermofluids component.
  • Have a good understanding of both Steady-State and Transient performance, with an appreciation of gas turbine control systems and gas turbine testing.
  • Are experienced in the development and use of Gas Turbine modelling codes for both steady-state and transient performance and control system simulation. Practical experience with NPSS and MATLAB/Simulink would be a significant advantage.
  • Have good technical knowledge (or a strong willingness to learn) in at least one other technical discipline such as Thermofluids / CFD, Thermals / FEA / Structural engineering, Systems Engineering / MBSE.
  • Have good project management and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ideally be a Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) or actively working towards chartership status.
  • Like a challenge, are flexible thinkers and aren’t intimidated by unfamiliar problems.
