Being a senior member of the Digital Team, as a Web Developer, you will be responsible for enhancing the architecture and functionality of our existing WordPress websites, ensuring they are optimised for accessibility, performance, security, and scalability. You will be key in supporting our SEO improvement plans by collaborating with the marketing team to implement best practices that drive organic traffic and improve overall site performance. Additionally, you will support our efforts to refresh the design and functionality of our websites, ensuring they remain current with industry trends, while also supporting ongoing maintenance tasks alongside the Senior Web Manager.
What you’ll do:
- You will be responsible for improving existing features and developing new ones to enhance the user experience for visitors, ensuring that our websites meet their evolving needs and expectations.
- Additionally, you will make strategic recommendations on new technologies and tools that can drive innovation across our digital platforms.
- A focus on security and accessibility will be paramount as you ensure that all websites are secure and meet accessibility standards.
- You will also support essential upgrades, manage regular backups, and oversee user management to maintain security and access control.
Bring your experience:
- Significant experience in WordPress development with proven ability to build and maintain scalable, secure websites.
- History of developing new features aimed at improving website functionality and user experience.
- Experience collaborating closely with cross-functional teams—such as marketing, UX, and external agencies.
- Hands-on experience improving performance and implementing security and accessibility enhancements.
- A strong background in maintaining and upgrading websites, managing regular backups, and overseeing user management to ensure seamless site operations.
- Experience managing databases, and handling version control tools like Git will be critical.
- A strong command of front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and familiarity with modern front-end frameworks like React or Vue.js are advantageous.
- Expertise in PHP, MySQL, and server-side development is crucial for maintaining and improving site architecture.
- A thorough understanding of SEO best practices, including strategies to optimise performance and search engine rankings.
