We have a fantastic opportunity for full-time Ambulance Care Assistants to join our team based in Burton, Staffordshire.

An Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) is a rewarding role. You will help individuals in need, making a difference in their day, which provides a sense of achievement.

Your main responsibility will be transporting elderly, sick, and vulnerable service users to and from medical appointments and healthcare facilities. This can be done as part of a two-person crew or alone. Therefore, a full UK driving license and good physical fitness are essential.

This is a full-time position, working 42 hours per week, including some weekends, with 4 x 11-hour shifts. Please only apply if you can work these hours.

Other duties:

  • Transporting \’end of life\’ service users with empathy
  • Building rapport with patients and relatives
  • Lifting, securing, and assisting service users in and out of the ambulance
  • Handover of patients to staff or family
  • Transferring patients within hospitals or during flights
  • Assisting with challenging behavior or mental health issues
  • Maintaining ambulance safety, cleanliness, and tidiness

To be considered, you should:

  • Be committed to patient care
  • Have effective communication skills, especially in emotional situations
  • Be a calm, considerate, careful driver with no more than three penalty points
  • Work well in a team
  • Be physically fit for patient handling
  • Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded)
  • Be flexible with shifts
  • Be familiar with the local area
