The Role

As an Assistant Accountant, you will report directly to the Financial Accountant and play a crucial role in preparing accounts up to the trial balance level. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in manufacturing finance, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Support the Financial Accountant in the preparation of month-end accounts and journal entries.
2. Assist with sales and purchase ledger issues and reconciliations.
3. Reconcile third-party warehouse accounts and assist the Inventory Controller with stock takes and follow-up.
4. Provide cover and support for the Inventory Controller, AP Clerk, and Finance Assistant as needed.
5. Oversee accruals and prepayments.
6. Maintain the Cap-Ex project ledger.
7. Review weekly expenses and perform stock adjustment reconciliations.
8. Assist in setting up new product recipes.
9. Conduct weekly production order analysis.
10. Prepare management accounts for a small sister company.
11. Participate in the year-end audit process.

Essential Skills & Experience:

1. AAT qualified or equivalent.
2. Experience working in a manufacturing finance environment.
3. Proficient in assisting with month-end reporting up to trial balance.
4. Advanced Excel skills.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
6. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Desirable Skills:

1. Familiarity with ERP systems and financial software.
2. Experience in preparing management accounts.
3. Knowledge of inventory management and stock reconciliation processes.
