Position Summary
Reporting to our Cloud Operations Manager and working in close collaboration with product engineering and quality assurance, the regional QPS Manager and regional Support Manager, we are looking for a motivated Cloud Operations Engineer to play a key role in the ongoing creation and expansion of the Cloud Operations Team managing our cloud solutions, initially focusing on Intelligent Building cloud software deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing Cloud Deployments
With a strong focus on Microsoft Azure and associated tooling (devOps), the candidate will be developing and evaluating the processes for deploying the cloud applications across a variety of resource types and working on ways to optimise this with the aim for zero downtime updates.
- Platform Monitoring
The cloud operations team will be responsible for defining, monitoring, and acting on infrastructure and application alerts that may affect customer experience and service levels across all deployments.
- Operational Analysis
Record and analyse the operational systems data for both infrastructure and application levels, which includes ensuring that the cloud resources are right-sized to optimise costs and that the application summary data and analytics are available.
- Incident Management
- Manage any operational incidents through the initial stages of mitigation and correction and help identify any corrective actions. This will initially cover working hours but will change to out of local hours management to cover other time zones.
- Growing Team and World-wide
The Operations Team is expected to continue to expand rapidly over the next few years, and successful candidates will be able to actively contribute to the growth and the success of solutions. As the operational deployments expand you will be able to operate with a wider team of ICONICS staff based in India, UK, Italy, Czechia, and USA. Skills and Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Experience as DevOps in a similar role, with excellent skills and knowledge of:
– Azure Infrastructure, its components, and the management there of.
– Security integrations/authentication with ADFS, AAD, OAuth2, and/or SAML services.
– Azure DevOps environment (pipelines, boards, backlogs, etc.)
- Hold suitable degree or industry qualifications around software deployment or data analysis.
- Experience integrating multiple cloud services together.
- Experience analysing cloud system data to identify areas of improvement.
- Experience in reporting findings, analysis in clear and concise language to stakeholders.
- Ability to motivate and guide team members (who will eventually be global) to build up their skills.
Technical Skills
- Creative, problem-solving, passion and attention to detail.
- The ability to communicate professionally to our global clients in both a technical and non-technical setting.
- IT infrastructure knowledge around passive and active IT networks, edge, and cloud services.
- Work within processes, openly suggest improvements, and aid their implementation to the product delivery.
- Be self-drive, motivated, and able to take full ownership of their team’s tasks and deliverables.
The successful applicant should be able to align to these ‘nice to have’ skill sets.
· An understanding of interoperable integrations using open protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, OPC which are used in Smart Buildings and Manufacturing solutions.
· Knowledge in Smart Buildings, and an understanding of the typical use cases and personas.
· An awareness of IoT solutions, specifically industrial solutions such as machine vision occupancy sensing, and indoor air quality.
· Some Experience in a Developer or Quality Assurance role, with skills and knowledge of:
– .NET Core / C# programming.
– Azure App Services (Linux and Windows)
– Azure Services (Azure Functions, Event Hub, IoT Hub, Redis)
– Azure Storage (Cosmos, Table Storage, Blobs, Azure SQL)
– Developing Web Service/APIs (Swagger, OAuth2, ODATA)
– Experience with Relational DBMS systems (SQL, T-SQL)
Experience with Azure Monitoring and Log Analytics (Notably KQL, Python, PowerShell
