We are seeking a motivated mid-level lawyer with a strong background in financial regulation to join the legal team of a global execution-only brokerage firm. Based in London and reporting to a senior lawyer, you will provide regulatory and commercial legal support across IBKR’s UK, Irish and Dubai offices. This is a hands-on role for a collaborative, commercially minded lawyer who enjoys varied work, cross-border exposure, and partnering with the business in a fast-paced environment. We currently operate a hybrid working model in one of the most iconic City of London towers on Fenchurch Street. Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Advice & Change Implementation
- Advise on UK and international financial regulatory frameworks, including the FCA Handbook, UK MiFID II, Consumer Duty, relevant EU regulations (e.g., Retail Investment Strategy), and DFSA requirements.
- Support the firm’s ongoing compliance by tracking regulatory developments and assessing their impact across jurisdictions (UK, EU, UAE).
- Lead or support projects to implement legal and regulatory change, working closely with compliance and business teams.
- Commercial Legal Support
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including client agreements, terms of business, SLAs, outsourcing arrangements and vendor contracts.
- Provide legal input on new commercial initiatives, including partnerships and product launches.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Internal Advisory
- Collaborate with compliance, risk, operations and trading teams to provide practical legal advice aligned with business strategy.
- Deliver training on regulatory requirements and legal developments.
Qualified solicitor (England & Wales), with a background in financial regulation gained in-house or at a law firm. We expect the successful candidate to have approximately 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience, but we’re open to hearing from strong applicants outside that range who meet the core criteria. Experience advising trading or brokerage firms on regulatory issues. Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Clear and confident communicator, capable of translating legal issues for non-legal stakeholders. In-house experience at a brokerage firm, trading platform or similar financial services firm. Experience advising on cross-border regulatory matters. Familiarity with other international regimes (e.g., US, UAE) is a plus. This team is collaborative, supporting each other and providing guidance to meet group objectives.
