Summary

£13.05 up to £13.65 per hour | 40 Hours Contract | Shifts: 06:00-14:30, 14:00-22:30, 22:00-06:30 | Working any 5 days out of 7

Additional pay: £3.50 per hour for hours between 11pm and 5am*

Our maintenance team keeps our distribution centre and stores running smoothly by maintaining equipment, machinery, fixtures, and fittings.

As a Sortation Maintenance Operative, you’ll ensure our Automated Sorter stays in top condition, supporting your team with a can-do attitude, initiative, and flexibility to work late shifts, nights, and weekends. It’s a busy, dynamic workplace with variety and new challenges.

Requirements

• Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, in confined spaces, and stand for long periods. Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily operation of the Automated Sortation system.
• Ensure equipment operates optimally and identify improvements.
• Develop and follow maintenance schedules with the Assistant Team Manager.
• Communicate effectively with other departments.
• Troubleshoot and repair minor electromechanical and computer issues.
• Keep accurate maintenance records.
• Generate reports to meet department targets.

Candidate profile

• Experience in maintenance or technical roles, ideally in distribution or warehousing.
• Familiarity with automated systems like conveyors and sorters is preferred.
• Knowledge of SAP EWM is a plus but not required.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and multi-task.
• Relevant qualifications and experience in maintenance.
• Confidence with mechanical equipment and hand tools.
• Motivated, positive, and detail-oriented in a busy environment.
