The job itself
The Supply Service Team, part of the Children, Young People, Education and Schools service area within the Directorate of Children, Families and Schools, supports schools and services in meeting their supply requirements.
We are seeking to recruit a Supply Team Assistant to work 18.5 hours over two days within the East Riding Supply Service, which is part of the Inclusion and Access Team. The role involves working hours from 7am to 5pm with a 30-minute lunch break on Wednesday, and from 7am to 4:30pm with a 30-minute lunch break on Friday. Alternatively, the role may require working from 6:30am to 4:30pm with a 30-minute lunch break as needed. Flexibility within the role may be required.
The successful candidate will primarily work remotely following induction and training at County Hall. The duration of training will depend on the individual.
Applicants should have good organisational, communication, ICT skills, and office administration experience. The role involves working in a busy environment where daily priorities can change at short notice. The East Riding Supply Service handles calls from primary and secondary schools and other service areas requesting cover for vacant or absent posts, as well as calls from supply workers, between 6:30am and 5:00pm daily.
There is an opportunity to combine this role with a fixed-term, part-time administrative position in the East Riding Safeguarding and Educational Team, which is advertised separately. This combined role would total 37 hours per week for the duration of the contract until 20 March 2026, with mornings dedicated to Safeguarding in Education Team duties and afternoons supporting the Supply Service Team. The two roles will have separate line management, contracts, and pay grades but will be managed flexibly to prioritize workload. The advertisement for the Supply Service Assistant role will be posted alongside this combined role, and candidates may apply for either role independently.
For the fixed-term Supply Service Assistant role, hours are Monday 1pm–4:30pm, Tuesday 1pm–4:30pm, Wednesday 1pm–5pm, Thursday 1pm–5pm, and Friday 1pm–4:30pm.
