Decontamination Services Technician (Grade A)

Job Summary

Part‑time Decontamination Services Technician (Grade A) within the Decontamination Services Team at AGH Solutions Ltd.

Working hours: Monday to Friday 5:00 pm‑10:00 pm. Saturday rota – 1 in 4, 8:00 am‑1:00 pm. Bank Holiday rota – 8:00 am‑12:00 pm. Applicant must be over 18 years of age.

Main Duties

• Undertake decontamination services duties and provide specialised decontamination of medical devices.
• Record all tasks on the Health Edge computerised traceability systems.
• Work in accordance with department work instructions and Quality Management systems.
• Provide supervision to Apprentice Decontamination Technicians.
• Plan own workload with limited supervision.
• Work involves exposure to blood and bodily fluids.

Qualifications

Essential

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, or GCSE English, Maths at Grade C or above.
• Proven experience within a healthcare/manufacturing environment.
• Experience of customer relations, face‑to‑face and over the telephone.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Knowledge of healthcare/industry health and safety and hygiene.
• Basic IT skills, basic English and Maths.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Good written and spoken communication skills.

Desirable

• Basic microbiology knowledge.
• Experience working within a quality system and standard operating procedures.
• Knowledge and experience in decontamination of reusable medical devices.
• Positive attitude towards change.
• Shows interest in the aims of the department.
