Thomas Miller is looking to recruit an experienced Infrastructure 2nd Line support engineer with 5 years exposure and experience to manage Thomas Miller’s Wintel and network technical estate within the infrastructure landscape. This role will need to provide skills across two vertical technology stacks, and the successful candidate will ideally have experience in both technology stacks. The successful candidate will take ownership of the network and Wintel infrastructure across our Head Office, branch locations, COLO Data Centres, and Microsoft Azure cloud environment. They will join a newly established, small but dedicated 2nd line technical team responsible for the management, support, and administration of the organisation’s technical infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:
- Installation, configuration, and ongoing business-as-usual (BAU) support of the network and Wintel estate.
- Monitoring, capacity management, and overall infrastructure administration.
- Accepting, prioritising and resolving incidents within agreed SLA.
- Managing resolution of security vulnerabilities.
- Regular patching and updating of systems within responsibilities.
- Incident and Problem management.
- Assisting in resolving incidents and problems escalated from ServiceDesk in a timely manner.
- Providing mentoring to ServiceDesk engineers.
- Providing support and administration of the IT Infrastructure.
- Assisting with testing of IT Business Continuity plans as and when required.
- Participating in the delivery of the infrastructure roadmap.
- Identifying Service Improvement opportunities.
- Applying changes in accordance with change management process.
- Producing, updating and maintaining technology service documentation.
Networking Stack:
- LAN/WAN network which includes Cisco switches and routers, Wireless Controllers, Access Points, Checkpoint firewalls, Meraki MX firewalls, Cisco Firepower Threat Defence, Skyhigh Proxy, Trellix, Citrix NetScaler load balancers and MS Teams Voice.
Wintel/Microsoft/Virtualisation Stack:
- Server virtualisation (VMWare), Hyper Converged (Nutanix), Cloud services (Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, Device management (Intune, MS Config Manager, AutoPilot), Microsoft Group Policy, Citrix - DaaS technology (Microsoft and Citrix), Bitlocker, Defender for endpoint, Privilege Access Management, Certificate management.
Educational background or qualifications:
- Technical certification or equivalent experience: Cisco CCNP routing and switching, Cisco CCNA or CCNP security, Checkpoint CCSA or CCSE, Netscaler CCA-AppDS, VMWare, Citrix CCA-V, Azure AZ-900 or AZ-104, ITIL framework or equivalent.
