CNWL NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Band 6 Nurse to join our Community Children’s Nursing Team in Ealing. We are looking for a full-time (37.5 hours per week) post. Our team provides compassionate, family-centered nursing care to children with acute, complex, and long-term health conditions, including palliative and end-of-life care, in the community and hospital settings. We welcome applicants with Band 5 experience or current Band 6. Experience in the community is preferred but not essential. The role involves independent practice and contributing to the continuous improvement of the Children’s Community Nursing team.

Location: Armstrong Way, Town, Ealing. Salary: £44,485 – £52,521 per annum incl. HCAS (pro rata for part-time). Closing date: 15/02/2026 23:59.
Main duties of the job
This is an opportunity to become part of a team that provides nursing care to children in a variety of community settings. The Children’s Community Nursing Team provides clinical nursing care, training and support to children, young people (0-19) and their carers at home or other community settings, enabling them to remain safely in the community and transition to adult services where appropriate. The team cares for:
- Children with acute and short-term conditions
- Children with long-term conditions
- Children with disabilities and complex conditions, including neonates
- Children with life-limiting and life-threatening illness, including palliative and end-of-life-care

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Job Summary: Children’s Community Nurses work closely with service users and their families. They are expected to be kind, responsive, professional and informative, contributing to service quality by:
- Using clinical skills and risk assessments to keep service users safe
- Following evidence-based policies to achieve the best clinical outcomes
- Respecting and empowering people in care planning
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will supervise others and contribute to quality improvement and safety. You will act as a role model and support band 5 nurses, students, and other staff to ensure standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
Community Children’s nurses contribute to safe and reliable services by:
- Applying clinical judgment and risk assessments to ensure safety
- Safeguarding and escalating concerns as needed
- Advocating for patients and maintaining safety in practice
- Supervising others and reflecting on practice to improve safety and quality
- Maintaining mandatory training and participating in continuous improvement
The NMC Code of Conduct applies and nurses must register with the NMC annually.

- Participate in supervision and appraisals
- Use CPD funds to develop clinical specialization or leadership skills
Education and Qualifications include Registered Nurse with pediatric specialism, post-registration education, and community nursing qualification.
