Overview
We are recruiting a Band 6 Children and Young People’s Mental Health Practitioner (CYPMHS) to join the East Cheshire Mental Health Team. The role involves evidence‑based therapeutic interventions, risk assessment and collaboration with multi‑agency stakeholders to support children and young people.
Responsibilities
- Provide assessment, therapy, family work, group work, consultation and training services to children and young people with mental health difficulties.
- Conduct mental health assessments and develop interventions, formulations and care/treatment plans.
- Manage clinical risk and work with clients presenting at a higher level of risk.
- Operate effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
- Maintain accurate records and use clinical systems, Microsoft Office and databases.
Person Specification – Essential Qualifications
- Core profession (Social Work, Nursing, Allied Health Professional).
- Professional registration with a recognised national body (HCPC, NMC, Social Work England).
- Nationally recognised post‑qualification and continuous professional development related to the core profession.
- Significant post‑qualification experience in a CYPMHS or child mental‑health setting.
- Experience of delivering evidence‑based interventions.
- Experience of undertaking formal and informal clinical risk assessments and risk‑management planning.
- Experience of mental health assessments.
- IT skills, including use of databases, Microsoft Office and clinical systems.
Person Specification – Desirable Qualifications
- Therapeutic training to an intermediate/diploma level.
- Post‑qualification experience working within NHS community CYPMHS.
- Experience of working with students/learners.
- Experience providing clinical supervision.
Person Specification – Core Knowledge and Expertise
- Working knowledge of specialist therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, family therapy, behavioural interventions).
- Knowledge of child protection practice and relevant legislation.
- Inter‑agency working experience.
- Experience of writing, implementing and evaluating care/treatment plans.
