Responsible for receiving and dispatching 250-350 calls efficiently and courteously for the Hospital and MEDNET Answering Service. Must have genuine interest and empathy in meeting the needs of patients, visitors, and staff. Must demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and be flexible with schedule changes to meet department needs. Computer skills are required.
Responsibilities
- Greet visitors on the phone and in person in a professional, prompt, and courteous manner.
- Dispatch calls professionally, promptly, accurately, and courteously.
- Refer to department on-call lists to provide accurate information upon request.
- Update AMION & MEDNET changes during shifts; input daily coverage on the first shift.
- Answer and dispatch all emergency calls (similar to 911), codes, elevator alarms, and emergency stat calls promptly and accurately, within one ring or less, in a calm manner.
- Respond to Fire Department and 800 MHz radio communications. Use walkie-talkies as specified. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with departments, staff, patients, and outside contacts, maintaining excellent customer service.
- Distribute A/V equipment as requested, ensure sign-in/out, and check equipment upon return for proper setup.
- Manage pagers on all shifts, including replacement, troubleshooting, and batteries.
- Maintain quality records/tickets in collaboration with clients.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of AMION on-call scheduling, customer service, and answering service is a plus.
- Reliable, well-groomed, and a team player.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with patience.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, using positive language, in a calm and cheerful manner.
- Ability to handle stressful interactions effectively.
- Attention to detail and excellent data entry, proofreading, spelling, and typing skills.
