As a Depot Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the delivery of on-road operational activities within your allocated area of the M25 network. Your leadership will ensure smooth operations, effective problem-solving, and consistent achievement of performance targets. Leading a team of Supervisors and Operatives, you’ll foster a strong safety-first culture—ensuring that all work is carried out safely, professionally, and to a high standard. You’ll make sure your teams are well-briefed, working efficiently, and equipped with the right resources to succeed. You’ll also be responsible for managing various inspection regimes, ensuring that the quality of work meets agreed standards. In addition, you’ll contribute to incident management as part of the Silver Manager rota. Your strong leadership and commitment to continuous improvement will help ensure the long-term success of the M25—keeping it safe, resilient, and in excellent condition.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Ensure the quality of work undertaken and drive productivity.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicator (KPI) performance.
- Oversee accurate data capture for all completed maintenance and incident works.
- Manage depot facilities, vehicles, plant, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure sufficient resources for on-road operations, incident responses, and both reactive and planned maintenance activities.
- Participate in the Silver Manager rota and manage emergency incidents at Silver level.
- Take responsibility for managing winter maintenance at the depot, including vehicles, stock, and rotas.
- Deliver effective daily briefings and ensure records of briefings are maintained.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant systems, processes, and procedures.
- Develop and maintain Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS) related to incident responses.
- Conduct regular inspections of site and depot activities, reporting on both good practices and areas for improvement.
- Carry out safety tours and provide feedback on ‘Don’t Walk By’ observations.
- Support Zero Harm objectives through proactive hazard and risk management.
- Manage and develop a high-performing team by providing clarity of responsibilities, monitoring performance, and supporting development.
- Ensure team members are fully trained and equipped for their roles.
- Oversee depot staff schedules, including annual leave, overtime, and sickness.
- Conduct Performance Development Reviews (PDRs) and implement Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) when needed.
- Champion talent development and succession planning to build a strong, future-ready team.
- Promote a collaborative culture through regular communication and knowledge sharing.
- Lead timely and thorough investigations into any HR, health and safety, or damage/misuse incidents.
- Continuously evaluate operations to identify improvement opportunities, using data to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Support the achievement of lean and sustainability targets.
- Report management information related to operational performance and delivery activities.

Location: This is a hybrid role designed to fully maximise team collaboration on the project, we offer flexible working where you will typically be working from your base CPS office, Leatherhead, Dartford or South Mimms up to three days per week and two days from home.
