The predicted salary is between 72000 - 108000 Β£ per year.

We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Cardiology on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Cardiology department. Our client is one of the leading interventional cardiology units in the United Kingdom, with a national & international profile for service, innovation, and research. They serve a regional population of 2.8 million in Yorkshire and perform over 1000 primary PCI procedures annually, with around 2300 PCI procedures in total. The Trans-catheter valve intervention service is led by a renowned consultant, with around 400 TAVI procedures performed annually. A percutaneous mitral valve leaflet repair service has recently received approval for commissioning. Leeds is at the forefront of innovation, research, and education in trans-catheter valve intervention.

There are currently 9 Yorkshire-based interventional cardiology consultants, 3 of whom provide the trans-catheter valve service with the support of a Fellow and 3 Nurse Specialists. A further 10 visiting coronary interventionists contribute to the PPCI rota.

The successful appointee will be asked to fulfill various duties including:

  • Contribute to the delivery, development, and expansion of the trans-catheter valve intervention service in Yorkshire.
  • Deliver the urgent and emergency coronary intervention service, including 24/7 primary PCI.
  • Maintain the current frequency of on-call duties and work with colleagues in the interventional cardiology team to deliver acute on-call and inpatient cardiology care for patients with ischaemic heart disease (currently 1 in 14).
  • Contribute to research, teaching, and new developments within the Cardiology department.
