The Cyber Specialist is a key role in the Cyber Services Team, ensuring secure solutions are delivered into National Policing.
The Cyber Specialist will provide security consultancy and architectural review to UK Forces and National Policing Programmes. Proposing secure solutions and identifying information risk born out of desired change.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Cyber Delivery Manager, providing specialist advice, reporting and assurance to principal stakeholders within PDS, Policing and the Home Office.
- Support implementation of the PDS Cyber Services (CS) strategy, roadmaps and business plans, bids and business cases to ensure that PDS, PDS CS, and Police Forces achieve their short, medium and long-term objectives.
- Monitor security, technological, social and scientific trends that could influence the National Policing policy and consulting approach and provision of Cyber services.
- Ensure that outcomes and benefits are maximised from all people, process and technology investments β especially those that facilitate or enable improvements in policing outcomes β as part of the PDS role in leading delivery for the National Digital Policing Strategy 2020-30.
- Advise on necessary technical and procedural governance, control systems, standards and procedures to ensure that decision making for policy and consultancy activities meet business objectives and comply with all legal, regulatory and policy standards, requirements and/or directives, at local and national levels.
- Forge strong relationships with National Policing Programme personnel and key PDS stakeholders across Policing, enabling effective implementation of all cyber specialist activities in support of their corporate objectives.
- Provide technical and security input and recommendations to Design Authorities and Information Security and Risk groups in reviewing and reporting risks to provide clear visibility of local and national risk exposure to policing.
What you need to succeed in the role
- A minimum of 3 years of proven IT/Information security and risk consulting experience in organisations with complex security and compliance requirements.
- Experience of ICT programme delivery consulting approaches and security solution architecture principles, gained through direct experience of solutions delivery in similar size organisations.
- Experience in defining and/or implementing security controls across multiple layers of the IT architecture stack.
- Experience in the production of, or input to, design documentation (HLDs, LLDs, blueprints etc.), supporting cloud architecture design, implementation, and operations.
- Strong knowledge and ability to demonstrate the use of the NIST Cyber Security Framework, mapping and translating NIST Cyber Security Controls to other frameworks such as ISO27001 and CIS Top 20 controls.

Working Arrangements
This is a remote role.
All applicants must be eligible to undergo NPPV3 (Non Police Personnel Vetting Level 3 )and SC vetting clearances. Successful applicants will require NPPV3 clearance to have been cleared before starting with PDS.
