Barnsley Children’s Services are seeking an advanced Social Work practitioner with a strong background in children with disabilities and safeguarding. Experience supervising others is desirable. This will be a non-case holding role, whereby you will support the Designated Social Care Officer with rolling out training, co-productions with parents/carers, children & young people, the development of Social Care/SEND services, and the new Barnsley short breaks team. This role is initially for a 6-month period.

  • DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work
  • Social Work England registration
  • Enhanced and in date DBS certificate
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to make good decisions based on available information
  • Ability to work independently and within/contribute to a team/multi-agency setups
  • Possess knowledge of service needs
  • Competent IT skills and ability to navigate electronic file/recording systems
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and robust assessments/reports/files
  • Flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises
