Our client is a very well-respected insurance company who have been trading effectively for over 100 years. They are currently seeking experienced and enthusiastic Regional Trading Underwriters (Existing Business). This will be an On-Site role being based at various locations within Scotland with a mixture of home working and being out on the road at their regional offices.

This is a great company to work for with a great deal of support, however you would have high underwriting licence writing general insurance and farming risks up to £100K GWP. Therefore, you’d be expected to be proactive, manage your own workload, and be an effective communicator both internally and externally.

Overview of the role and accountabilities:
  • Support the Agency in delivering profitable growth, whilst maintaining compliance standards and criteria within limits of authority.
  • Negotiate large commercial account reviews and connected portfolios using expert knowledge and utilise SME’s when required to deliver compelling and market leading propositions to our customer.
  • Champion, advise and guide Agents on more complex risks, technical and customer service areas to improve their knowledge and support effective decision making.
  • Support regular Agency performance review meetings – Including conducting an analysis of current performance versus plan, identification of trends and delivery of agreed actions in conjunction with agency/S&A and regional underwriting management.
  • Identify, support and guide Agents to ensure training, monitoring and support is provided to meet individual development needs, in order to achieve required standards of competence and quality.
  • Identify and resolve Agency Underwriting escalations to ensure fair, consistent application in line with policy, legislative requirements, organisational culture and Guiding Principles.
  • Analyse and evaluate risk and propose and negotiate policy terms, including appropriate limitations and endorsements, in accordance with Underwriting standards and principles.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Claims, Senior Technicians and Agents to ensure the effective delivery of objectives and first class customer service.

Experience of Underwriting, have a track record of dealing with relevant, more complex and technical cases and of effectively coaching and guiding peers and colleagues.
