In partnership with the MOD, NATS deliver Air Traffic Control services at six Military Airfields (Barkston Heath, Gibraltar, Middle Wallop, Netheravon, Wattisham and Woodvale). The General Manager - Military Airfields is responsible for safety, service, and value across all NATS Military Airfield functions. The job is high profile and requires the post holder to work closely with many internal and external agencies, and authorities to support our prime commercial customer and operational end-users.
What you’ll do:
- Leadership to the six operational units
- Ensure Safety Performance and procedures are implemented, through regular communications across the Units, control of working time, monitoring Safety cases, performance monitoring and reporting
- Liaison with customers, end users and multiple regulatory authorities to achieve continuous improvement of safety performance
- Efficient delivery and management of projects across the portfolio through team leadership and operational support
- Monitoring of Internal Management Systems, ensuring that the Quality systems conform, and that accreditation is maintained
- Ensure that NATS and Aquila are the partner of choice for future opportunities and positioned as a key stakeholder by the military authorities
- Recruitment, training, coaching and development of staff with proactive future manpower planning
- Develop an effective Business Plan and meet financial objectives in line with NATS procedures
Who you’ll be:
- A demonstrable knowledge of the Marshall construct, with a clear understanding of the complex regulatory framework
- Comprehension of a Military Air Traffic Management environment is essential as well as operational experience
- The ability to demonstrate exceptional leadership, commitment, and experienced engagement credentials aiding management of a wide range of stakeholders including the Union, commercial customer, and operational end-user of the service
- Strong commercial acumen and capability; with exposure to business planning and financial account management within the aviation industry
- Possess a broad knowledge of the NATS organisational structure together with a sound understanding of the NMS safety management and assurance processes
