Overview
The role will oversee the coordinating and scheduling of shift work, ensuring compliance with site and industry safety standards and quality of work standards. You will provide technical guidance in the resolution of machinery and facility issues and ensure compliance with the department's CMM system. This role is key in underpinning all departmental processes and procedures to support all manufacturing operations with regard to breakdowns, ensuring a timely resolution. Maximise machine availability, actively promote a pro-active approach, and the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. Optimise TPM/PPM events to ensure efficiency and reliability and effective usage of departmental time. Introduce new technology in small low-cost projects to develop existing planned maintenance routines to provide Reliability Centred Maintenance. Implement shift team project work in close liaison with Projects and Engineering Management to ensure successful implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Pro-actively lead and direct all tasks associated with maintenance and breakdowns of site equipment and facilities.
- Manage operational safety issues affecting staff on a day-to-day basis.
- Allocate and maintain daily production output needs, ensuring that all targets are achieved.
- Ensure that all maintenance work is undertaken and recorded in accordance with the CMMs.
- Provide guidance for other team members on technical and operational issues.
- Carry out maintenance product audits (e.g., Pre & Post Work Inspections).
- Report plant and infrastructure defects and initiate rectification through the CMMS.
- Investigate and implement solutions for repeat failures on existing processes, establishing the cause of the fault and undertaking the most cost-effective solution to remedy the defect, supported with relevant documentation.
- Identify opportunities and implement solutions for improving all aspects of manufacturing operations, focusing on safety, quality, output, and efficiency.
- Carry out a planned preventative maintenance work programme, reporting all findings to provide Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM).
- Share and document knowledge and skills with colleagues, production, and maintenance personnel to ensure continuity of service.
- Provide support for the commissioning of new plant and equipment, including the control of contractors.
- Take responsibility for contractors at weekends, ensuring work is carried out safely and as per Risk Assessment and Method Statement.
- Maintain the highest level of housekeeping (5S Gold Standard) to create an environment in keeping with the expectations and quality procedures to maintain compliance.
- Ensure all activities are ethical and comply with health & safety and environmental policy.
- Deliver a high quality of workmanship while actively promoting safe working practices.
- Ensure that all departmental processes and procedures are followed and work towards developing and improving these to enhance operations.
- Ensure an effective and efficient shift handover is completed and documented for all shift changes.
Health & Safety:
- Understand and share with your team all emergency procedures and safe systems of work.
- Compliance with all EH&S requirements.
- Understand emergency procedures and safe systems of work, using the library system available.
- Observe safety behaviour in the working environment.
- Compliance with SOPs / SS of W's.
