We are seeking an experienced Non-Metallic Engineering Specialist to join our team at Global Manufacturing Excellence (GME) under the Reliability Solutions Department (RSD). Reliability Solutions Department (RSD) provides engineering support to Saudi Aramco Global Manufacturing wholly owned and affiliates’ facilities (Refining, NGL Processing, and Petrochemicals). This includes reliability, inspection, corrosion management, static equipment, rotating equipment, electrical equipment, instrumentation and control support.
Your primary role as a Non-metallic Specialist Engineer is to provide technical support pertaining to the application, deployment, health assessment, and repair methodologies for non-metallic materials to Global Manufacturing operating facilities. You will also conduct special studies and analyses related to non-metallic materials selection, develop and deploy relevant procedures to ensure the reliability of non-metallic networks during operation, train onsite manpower to inspect and perform repairs for non-metallic piping and equipment, and lead or technically assist various failure investigations. You will work jointly with subject matter experts of various engineering backgrounds. In addition, you will be expected to coach and support the development of junior Engineers within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop procedures and train manpower to perform comprehensive inspection of non-metallic equipment including but not limited to the above & belowground GRP & HDPE piping, tanks, and vessels.
- Perform comprehensive integrity assessments, failure investigations and provide recommendations to maintain or enhance the equipment integrity for continuous and uninterrupted production.
- Scout, introduce and support deployment of non-metallic products in various applications in a cost-effective manner.
- Develop & update existing standards, procedures and best practices related to non-metallic applications.
- Develop, introduce and/or deploy viable non-metallic inspection technologies.
- Support failure investigations and produce lessons learned from RCAs to avoid reoccurrence.
- Provide, review and approve recommended solutions for coating failures and composite applications.
- Review design packages and validate materials selection based on current code and standards.
- Serve on company and international standards writing bodies as necessary.
- Keeps current with significant developments in non-metallic applications, through technical literature, participation in professional and industry society events, etc.
- Participate in value engineering sessions for non-metallic products.
As a successful candidate you will hold a:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Non-Metallic Materials, Polymers, Chemical, or Materials Engineering. An advanced degree is preferred.
- 15 years of experience in the oil & gas sector with five years of experience in non-metallic materials engineering.
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge and experience in non-metallic products (e.g. piping, tanks, valves, composite structures and parts and components) application, qualification, testing, failure analysis, and technical evaluation.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge in International Engineering Standards and Specifications (e.g. API 15HR, API 15S, API 17J).
- Demonstrate familiarity with non-metallic components manufacturing, lining processes, installation, testing and inspection as applicable.
- Affiliation with professional societies is highly desirable such as ASME, API, ISO, and NACE.
- Demonstrate fluency in English, oral and written.
