Your Day-to-Day:
- Act as the project’s single point of authority and accountability for the EC&I engineering discipline.
- Dependent on project scope, lead a multi-disciplined engineering team reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with the clients responsible engineering team.
- Responsible for the development of key design deliverables such as Block Cable Diagrams, Schematics, Cable Schedules and General Arrangements.
- Check and approve cable calculations by hand or in Amtech and lighting calculations in Dialux/Relux.
- Ensure that design deliverables are of a high standard and compliant with relevant standards, regulations and customer specific standards.
- Ensure that design consultants and sub-contractors deploy suitably qualified and experienced personnel.
- Produce documentation that is technically accurate, grammatically correct, correctly formatted and professionally presented.
- Prepare and review quality plans for multi or single discipline work packages.
- Ensure work delivered is within the defined scope and completed to time and budget.
- Manage resolutions to technical issues and ensure necessary change control is implemented and address commercial impacts.
- Ensure designs are compliant with CDM regulations and have designer responsibility under CDM.
- Present EC&I engineering designs to clients and key stakeholders who may be discipline experts or non-discipline related.
- Present technical solutions at design reviews and HAZOPs.
- Produce and check safety related documents such as Hazard Management Strategy and Engineering Substantiation / Justifications Report.
- Develop estimates, define deliverables, clarify scope/exclusions and develop programme logic at bid / tender stages.
- Mentor a team of engineers/designers to improve their own skill sets and enhance the company’s capabilities.
- Develop and manage/maintain good working relationships with key counterparts in client or partner organisations.
Who You Are:
- At least 8+ years’ experience in the industry, of which at least 3 years at Senior Engineer level.
- Ideally 5+ years in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sector preferred.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the UK.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Chartered Member of the IET.
- Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes and directives and how they should be applied.
- Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques of EC&I design.
- Strong knowledge in the production of Technical Files for new products / plant and equipment.
- Experience of design in accordance with the IET 18th edition (BS7671).
