We are looking for an Assistant Procurement Manager to join our commercial team. This is a challenging and rewarding role where you will be responsible for supporting the end-to-end procurement process and work of the team across the Corporate Business Services Category. This will include complying with HM Land Registry’s (HMLR’s) procurement policy and supporting commercial contract management. This is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic team with an active hands-on role. We will support you to achieve CIPS professional membership and you’ll be trained on all aspects of the role.

In this role you will provide support for commercial assurance and compliance in the procurement of designated goods and services for HMLR. This includes pre-contract activities such as providing support to the Procurement Managers for procurement exercises, developing and maintaining business relations, and working on the procurement strategy. You will be involved in post-contract activities, such as contract management and compliance, attending review meetings with suppliers and regularly reviewing all procurement activities to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and value for money. You will provide procurement support for management of suppliers for designated goods and services to HMLR Land Registry. This includes data assurance of management information, working with stakeholders on categorisation and risk reporting, and providing advice and guidance to contract managers.

To be successful in this role you will have experience of working within procurement or contract management, and will have effective organisation skills with the ability to prioritise work. You will be an effective communicator able to deliver results by proactive, positive, and persuasive means; and have experience of working as an effective team member. You will have excellent attention to detail, the ability to make sound judgements, and will be proficient in the use of Excel. Where an individual taking up the responsibility will be based in our Swansea Office, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

Behaviours we will assess you against during the selection process:

  • Making Effective Decisions
  • Communicating and Influencing
  • Working Together
  • Delivering at Pace

Technical skills we will assess you against during the selection process:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel

Alongside your salary of £30,958, HM Land Registry contributes £8,968 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

Selection process details: This vacancy is using Success Profiles, and will assess your Behaviours, Strengths, Experience and Technical skills. To apply you will need to complete the short application form and take the online Civil Service Verbal and Numeric Tests. You must build in time to complete the full application process if you pass the online tests, so we recommend completing the tests as soon as possible, and no later than midday on Monday 9 June 2025. If you pass online tests, you will then move onto the next stage of the application process, where you will be invited to submit your full application form, which includes your CV and Personal Statement.

The Personal Statement section (in no more than 500 words) should be used to outline your skills and experience for the role and detail how you meet the following essential experience criteria:

  • Experience of working within procurement or contract management
  • Effective organisational skills and able to prioritise work.

In the event of a high volume of applications, the panel may pre-sift using the lead criteria - Experience of working within procurement or contract management. Please note the desirable criteria will not be assessed. The sift will take place shortly after the closing date. If successful at shortlisting stage, you will be invited to attend a virtual, blended interview. Details will be provided on invitation to interview.
