Wotton under Edge / Hybrid working (office based 3 days a week). We are currently recruiting for an Export Control Officer to work within our Group Export Control Team in our global HQ. You will report directly to the Group Head of Export Control and work in close collaboration with global stakeholders in many different aspects of the business. You will be part of a team driving our corporate compliance with export control and sanctions regulations.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Export Control and Sanctions professional to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring our adherence to international export control laws and sanctions regulations. The ideal candidate will focus on mitigating the risk of diversion & sanctions breaches, policy design and implementation. Providing comprehensive training and engaging with various operational areas of the business to foster a collaborative culture of export compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess risks related to export control and sanctions, with a particular focus on the risk of diversion.
  • Support the development and implementation of strategies to mitigate identified risks.
  • Monitor and analyse changes in export control laws and sanctions regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Support the design and delivery of training and awareness sessions for employees on export control and sanctions compliance.
  • Ensure that all relevant staff are aware of their responsibilities and the importance of compliance.
  • Collaborate with various operational areas of the business to integrate compliance measures into daily activities.
  • Conduct regular internal reviews to ensure compliance with export control and sanctions regulations.
  • Design, update, and communicate company policies and procedures related to export control and sanctions compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of export and sanctions related activities and report on status as required.
  • Investigate and respond to potential violations of export control and sanctions regulations.
  • Liaise with legal and regulatory authorities as necessary.
  • Implement corrective actions to address compliance issues and prevent future occurrences.

Key requirements

  • Degree qualified in International Trade, Law, Business Administration, or operational experience in a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in export control and sanctions compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of international export control laws and sanctions regulations, a specific focus on UK, EU & US.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
  • Experience in the industrials and / or defence sector preferred.
