Legal Assistant – Residential Property – Leicester
We are seeking to recruit a Conveyancing Assistant to our Residential Property team in our Leicester Office.
The successful Conveyancing Assistant will work alongside an experienced fee earner in a busy conveyancing environment. You will assist on a full and varied caseload of freehold / leasehold sales & purchase, re-mortgage, transfers of equity, right to buy, and shared ownership schemes from start to finish.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and submit quotes to clients.
- Deal with queries raised by clients, solicitors, lenders, and estate agents.
- Provide client updates and monitor matter progression.
- Open/close files on the case management system, compliant with the firm’s AML and quality standards, as well as SRA and CQS regulations.
- Experience of Leasehold transactions.
- Carry out searches online.
- Use Land Registry portal to submit registrations, reply to requisitions, and order official copies, leases, and title plans.
- Generate Stamp Duty Land Tax calculations and submit applications.
- Prepare and submit bills, receipts, and payments to the finance team for fee earners.
- Occasional reception cover.
Requirements for this role include:
- Preferably previous work experience as a conveyancing assistant/secretary.
- Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office.
- Advanced computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Working knowledge of case management software.
- Proficiency in English.
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of the conveyancing process.
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:15, with a one-hour lunch break (Office Based).
