An opportunity is available for a Craftsperson Fitter based at our Leicester depot. In this role, you will undertake maintenance of plant and switchgear up to 66kV. Candidates are required to have Grade A*-C/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level qualification in both subjects. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

Main Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for the annual maintenance of plant and switchgear up to 66kV within the Leicester/Kettering area.
  • Additionally, you will oversee programming and monitoring of work colleagues and switching operations up to 66kV, among other duties relevant to the Craftsperson role.

Ideal Candidate

  • The successful applicant should reside in the Leicester area and ideally have fitting experience.
  • Consideration will be given to applicants who are eager to develop the necessary skills through training.
  • If not already attained, the candidate will need to study for the City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering and complete TAR, including daily diary entries, tasks, and reports.
  • You must be able to work independently and as part of a small team, make quick decisions, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility is essential, including the ability to undertake standby duties and work at height using Personal Fall Protection Equipment, with weight restrictions in place.
