We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, full-time Shift Engineering Technician to join our Engineering team. Our product standards are high, as are our people standards! The main aspects of this role include responsibility for delivering world-class engineering excellence in fault resolution, maintenance standards that promote the delivery of site scorecard measures. Key metrics include Quality, Health and Safety, Manufacturing Performance, and Engineering support and Delivery. Emphasis on operational effectiveness, reliability, cost control, and environmental impact will also be measured.
The use of continuous improvement techniques and the delivery of best practices in mechanical and electrical standards will be key, so candidates should be well-versed in these areas. Additionally, corrective maintenance of manufacturing equipment, along with preventative and predictive maintenance techniques, are vital.
Other aspects of the role include:
- Participation in delivering the Engineering department vision and strategic plan, developing and deploying strategies for energy, equipment, and maintenance that support site progression in line with the Clearly Work System (CWS).
- Developing a world-class engineering solution within the team, fostering a culture of strong performance, personal development, and achievement of business objectives.
- Collaborating with production teams to improve key business results and develop engineering skills and knowledge, promoting a professional manufacturing culture.
- Developing, implementing, and delivering robust strategies for mechanical and electrical engineering, supported by effective budget management to deliver cost-effective results.
- Identifying and acting on opportunities for improvements within the engineering environment to promote a continuous improvement culture.
- Assessing and addressing training needs of operators where appropriate.
- Supporting factory-wide systems to ensure adherence to company policies and statutory health, safety, and environmental regulations for staff and contractors.
- Partnering with relevant teams to plan and support capital engineering projects, ensuring their successful completion within cost, quality, and time targets.
- Being a proactive team player who can build credibility quickly, maintain high standards of engineering excellence, and promote team development through coaching and training.
We are seeking candidates with the following skills and attributes:
- Practical multi-skilled (electrical and mechanical) engineering and maintenance experience with a proven record in a strategic, target-driven manufacturing environment with measurable KPIs.
- Extensive experience providing technical expertise for planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance across production lines and support processes.
- Knowledge of HACCP and relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Experience managing work of internal resources and external contractors using safety systems, risk assessments, permits, and lock-off procedures.
- Significant production line experience, preferably within an FMCG environment.
- Experience maintaining complex PLC, MMI, and SCADA systems, particularly Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- IT literacy, especially in Word and Excel.
- A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to embody company values.
- Applicants with an Electrical Engineering HNC/HND qualification or equivalent, and demonstrable, transferable experience, are encouraged to apply. Candidates with 18th edition or above electrical regulation certification would be advantageous.
