DP World is currently seeking Terminal Operatives to join our Operations Team. This role involves providing a world-class container and cargo handling service, ensuring operational efficiency and safety in compliance with terminal policies and procedures.
Note: The role involves working any 5 days over 7, with a fixed day off (not set in advance), including a mixture of day and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate plant machinery and vehicles on the terminal, subject to training and capability.
- Conduct safety checks on equipment and report defects.
- Assist in handling out-of-gauge containers under crane, including arranging materials and fitting/removing twist locks.
- Support loading and unloading containers from trains and vessels.
- Operate radio communications and assist with cargo presentation for inspections.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and ensure timely handovers.
- Experience in operations/manual handling roles preferred.
- Driving plant equipment experience (e.g., forklift) beneficial.
- Understanding of safety protocols.
- Flexible with shifts and overtime.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Valid UK or international driving license.
- No unspent criminal convictions.
- Meeting health and safety standards, including medical and weight requirements.
