Job Purpose
As part of the Design Team, the Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for planning, leading and delivering the process design of water and wastewater treatment projects for various clients.
They will oversee technical projects, manage teams, and ensure that the solutions provided meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and client needs. The role involves collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of innovative and sustainable water treatment solutions.
Job Responsibilities
– Lead the process design, development, and implementation of water and wastewater treatment projects.
– Develop process flow diagrams, mass balances, and process unit sizing to optimise treatment plant performance.
– Develop P&IDs, process control philosophies, hydraulics calculations (gravity & pumped) to feed into design specifications and HAZOP studies.
– Represent the design team in HAZOP studies and design reviews with both internal and external stakeholders.
– Oversee the preparation of technical reports, proposals, and specifications for treatment systems.
– Provide technical support and expertise to project teams, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and quality standards.
– Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and increased operational efficiency.
– Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical training and knowledge sharing.
– Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality.
– Liaise with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and project alignment.
– Stay updated on the latest developments in water treatment technologies and industry best practices.

Technical Specification
Experience Required
– Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in process engineering, with at least 5 years in the water or wastewater industry.

– Strong knowledge of water quality standards, environmental regulations, and industry codes.
Essential Qualifications
– Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
– Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it.
– In-depth knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, technologies, and equipment.
Desirable Qualifications
– Master's degree in Chemical/Process Enigneering,Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
– Professional certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
– Familiarity with sustainability initiatives, energy efficiency, and circular economy concepts in water management.
