The School of Science & Technology provides a wide range of both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across a broad spectrum of subjects. Overall the School is home to around 3,500 students studying full time, part time and in modular modes. The STEM Digital Academy launched within the school in 2021, the ethos is to provide more flexible learning modes to new and existing students. Phase two of the STEM Digital Academy initiative is the creation of a suite of MSc fully online Computing programmes to commence in Autumn 2023.

Responsibilities

Appointed candidates will participate in the development and delivery of the modules for the online MSc programmes in Computer Science (and specialties), within the Department of Computer Science. This will involve working with the Digital Academy team for module development; placement of learning resources on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE); supporting students taking online modules; setting and marking assessments for the online modules. Being able to work to deadlines, whilst ensuring quality and adherence to academic policies and procedures, are essential to this role.

Person Specification

The successful candidates will have experience developing teaching materials for Programming or wider Computer Science related subjects at degree level, or have taught Computer Science within a College setting. We are particularly interested in candidates who have developed teaching materials for, and/or taught Health Informatics, Cyber Security, Software Engineering or Artificial Intelligence. They will have experience of supporting students with their studies. They will have taught and assessed using an online platform (VLE) both synchronously and asynchronously. They will have excellent communication and organisational skills. They will have a proven track record in delivering student outcomes to a high standard in teaching, learning and assessment. They should also have a PhD (or equivalent) degree.
