We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our team and support with day-to-day farm duties including relief milking, feeding, calf rearing and tractor work. Experience working with robotic dairy equipment would be advantageous. Awareness of essential health and safety measures, hygiene and animal welfare are essential.

The role involves working alongside our Head Herdsperson to support in all aspects of dairy production related to the college's dairy herd together with other cattle related tasks required by our expanding herd. The primary responsibility is for rearing young stock and undertaking relief milking on a rota basis / holiday cover. The role entails the supervision of students on farm duties and liaison with academic colleagues to maximise the educational opportunities.

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Certificate in forklift truck and tractor driving proficiency
  • Demonstrable competency in using tractor/ farm equipment
  • Demonstrable experience of working with cattle
  • An affinity with working and developing young people
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with a wide range of people
