Underwriter II – Regional Retail P&C

As an Underwriter II, you will be responsible for delivering a profitable & sustainable underwriting service to your clients. Your key tasks include underwriting within the agreed business plan and authority, supporting business planning and forecasting, monitoring financial exposure and premium income, maintaining awareness of claims, building relationships with brokers and clients, and supporting risk design and structuring.

Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing submissions such as applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports to assess risk.
• Calculating risk premiums considering current underwriting standards.
• Advising and servicing clients on insurance and risk management.
• Traveling internationally and attending Lloyd’s Box regularly.
• Managing relationships to promote cross-selling and account retention.
• Implementing new and renewed accounts according to standards.
• Reviewing loss control reports and managing policy endorsements.
• Supporting business planning, monitoring financial exposure, and premium income.
• Monitoring claims and assisting in claims settlement.
• Collaborating within a team environment, supporting colleagues and management.

Required skills and experience:

• Proven experience in UK Property or Casualty Underwriting, or both.
• Experience with multinational clients.
• Strong technical knowledge of products and industry.
• Ability to work within significant limits and handle complex assignments.
• Advanced analytical, negotiation, and sales skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building contacts.
• Team player with a creative approach to problem-solving.
