Role: Commercial Manager

The client
A UK leading power generation owner, developer and operator within the bioenergy sector, with over 2GW off assets under management and a growth strategy to double this over the next 5-8 years.
The role
The main responsibility of this role includes the overall responsibility of feedstock and oil supplies in and out AD plants in compliance with all relevant UK health and safety and environmental legislation. This is achieved by managing the existing customer base and securing new to ensure the waste supply is a biological and commercial fit for the business. This role is essential for the link between the operational and commercial departments within the business and as such a close working relationship between Plant Manager and bookings at site is essential. This role is responsible for 3 sites within East Yorkshire
Duties
- Target existing and new potential feedstock and oil customers with the aim of retaining and winning new contracts
- Ensure compliance with Environmental and Animal-by-products (ABP) permits
- Take responsibility for the feedstock and oil incoming to site, working closely with operations and bookings to resolve and manage issues
- Control and manage feedstock contracts to ensure cost effective processing and reception hall management in conjunction with biological requirements of the AD plant
- Ensure sampling of potential feedstock is timely/rigorous and meets predefined standards
- Take responsibility for managing the needs of the client base.
- Meet new and existing client KPI\’s
- Assisting to achieve site operational KPI\’s and managing P&L for business with the Plant Manager
- Follow company procedures
- Report and support in accidents, incidents and near miss investigations by providing statements and evidence where required
- Ensure accidents, incidents and near miss reporting procedures are understood and implemented
- Follow and adhere to risk assessment controls and PPE requirements
- Adhere to H&S criteria contained within the company SOP\’s, Risk Assessments, Policies and Procedures, in accordance with the appropriate H&S legislative elements for the role
- Set a personal example with regard to Health & Safety matters, promoting the safety culture through observations, site standards and workplace safety
Experience required
- Relevant qualification held or working towards, and/or minimum of 12 months \’time served\’ experience in a similar role including Customer account management
- Excellent communicator; Computer literate; Motivated self-starter with good communication skills; Ability to write clear and concise English; Ability to present in meetings and build relationships with stakeholders
- Intermediate or above working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets
- Reliability, discretion, diplomatic manner and impartiality of judgement
- Flexibility to perform duties outside of normal working hours; Travel – driving licence for visits to customers and sites within group
