We are looking to recruit an Automotive Technician at our state of the art Mechanical Testing facility at Hazelwood in Derbyshire to deliver safe, timely, cost effective, and quality testing. The European Testing Facility at Hazelwood is a 24/7 operation which predominantly develops and tests additives for fuels & lubricants for the Automotive Industry, this opportunity is a Shift role.
A wide variety of tests are run to determine the performance and durability of our additive packages i.e. Heavy Duty and Passenger Car engines, driveline components and bespoke test rigs for industrial applications. In this role you will be required to work shifts to cover the operational requirements of the department to run a 24/7 operation across 365 days of the year.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting and monitoring Fired engine, Driveline and Industrial tests
- Use control systems to check data and adjust test operating parameters as necessary
- Building, installing, de-rigging and strip test components i.e. engines, gearboxes and axles
- Initiate repairs to test installations as required
- Suggesting improvements and the implementation of these improvements with a proactive and creative approach
- Adhering and promoting compliance with company HS&E policies, practices and procedures and suggest areas for improvement
- Interacting appropriately with immediate work group
To be successful you will have:
- Experience in automotive fault finding techniques
- Some experience in engine strip and repair
- Shift experience, but not essential
- PC literacy and basic office packages
- Be NVQ level 2/3 trained or equivalent and have proven experience

Shift Pattern Information:
- 4 day on 4 day off shift rota with 2 shifts of days followed by two shifts of nights.
- All shift start and finish times are worked around 6am and 6pm with 12 hour shifts.
- Holiday entitlement has flexible booking and the allowance is 444 hrs/year which is the equivalent of 37 days off.
