We are seeking an ambitious, driven Business Developer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in supporting the commercial optimizations of our development projects across the UK. If you are passionate about renewable energy and have a proven track record in this field, we would love to hear from you! This is a hybrid role assigned to our London office. Key Responsibilities:- Identify new business opportunities, secure land rights, and establish strategies for delivering value from sites, including commercial, planning, community, and technical strategies.
- Assess and advise on markets and technologies to ensure the next generation of sites target strong market opportunities.
- Manage relationships and contractual obligations with landowners, overseeing all land aspects through design, planning, financial close, and construction phases.
- Independently originate and manage the development of renewable projects from conceptualization to financial close.
- Lead a team of grid and land experts to bring projects to the "Ready to Build" stage.
- Intimate knowledge of planning, permitting, and grid availability in the UK.
- Strong business relationships with key stakeholders such as developers, planning, and grid consultants.
- Demonstrable track record of delivering renewable projects with an aggregate capacity of at least 150 MW in the UK.
- Conversant with Route-to-Market options, including CFDs and corporate PPAs for renewable projects.
- Detailed understanding of the UK electricity sector and regulations.
- Ability to optimize costs, both capital and O&M.
- Good understanding of the sector landscape and relevant stakeholders like offtakers and contractors.
- Proficiency in land acquisition, grid connection, and planning consent processes/principles.
- Understanding of EPC contracting structures and tendering processes.
- Intimate knowledge of capital costs and O&M costs linked to PV/onshore wind and batteries.
- Conversant with investment and project financing principles.
- Financial modelling experience is desirable but not mandatory.
- Ability to proactively work to deadlines on multiple projects concurrently.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Project.
- Prior experience in developing renewable projects in the UK, including:
- Identifying/acquiring land
- Achieving grid connection
- Obtaining planning consents
- Originating corporate PPAs
- Participating in CFD auctions
- Degree qualified with relevant professional body qualifications or equivalent experience.
- UK Drivers Licence and ability to travel nationally.
