A public sector organisation in Sheffield has added an additional role into their People & Development Team (HR).
This role is a generalist HR role with a Learning & Development focus. The People and Development team is responsible for driving the organisation's strategy, supporting a culture of continuous learning, performance, and engagement. The team oversees all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, performance management, and talent. They work closely with leaders across the business to ensure people practices align with strategic goals, foster employee growth, and build a positive, inclusive workplace culture that enables individuals and teams to thrive.
This role reports to the Senior P&D Business Partner and supervises 1 P&D Officer. You will be responsible for the full generalist areas of HR, supporting Managers with HR advice, handling HR/ER casework, recruitment support to Manager, performance management, and learning & development management. This role has an L&D focus as you will be involved in designing and delivering engaging learning solutions, making decisions in relation to the delivery method (e.g. pathways, learning platform, workshops), and ensuring alignment with the organisational needs. You will also proactively coach and support Line Managers to develop and manage their teams effectively.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Ideally, you will have CIPD level 5 or equivalent experience
- Practical generalist HR experience
- Employee Relations and People Development/L&D experience
- Experience of managing people, effective delegation, and managing performance
- Proven track record of coaching and motivating to achieve people and development operational objectives
What you’ll get in return:
- A competitive salary of £43,391 - rising to £45,738 per year after successful completion of a 6-month probationary period
- More than standard holidays - 25 prorata plus Bank Holidays
- Hybrid working - 2 days a week / 40% in the office - rest WFH (can go into the office more if preferred)
- 37 hours a week - flexible start/finish times - can do 37 hours "condensed" into 4 days if preferred
- Holiday entitlement of 25 days (plus the bank holidays)
