General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAVs. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.

Job Description

As a Production Technician, you will play an important role in our highly motivated production team. You will be working on the build/assembly and testing of land based armoured vehicle communication systems along with avionics systems. You will be expected to apply soldering skills and assembly expertise to the various units which pass through our manufacturing department. Your responsibility will be to ensure our products are assembled correctly and meet all our quality requirements as well as operating a GO/NOGO test programme. You will be expected to follow both written instructions and drawings/schematics, to meet the required assembly standards expected in our industry. A basic understanding of electronics to diagnose faulty units down to circuit card level would be a useful attribute.

Qualifications

  • High level skills in competent soldering PTH / SMD
  • High level skills in wiring and mechanical assembly
  • A good understanding of mechanical and electronic drawings
  • A basic knowledge of electronics would be desirable
  • Act and make decisions upon your own initiative
  • Excellent capacity for problem solving combined with report writing skills
  • Capable of working on numerous tasks in parallel
  • Familiarity with IT and some knowledge of the Microsoft Office toolset
  • Willingness to learn new skills to allow for personal development

Additional Information
