Summary: Established in 1949, our client provides excellence in technical panel fabrication with bespoke manufacturing of decorative panels across HPL, SGL and melamine surfaces, and have built and maintained long-term trusted partnerships with leading laminate suppliers. They believe in continuous improvement to ensure they deliver a first-class service to their customers through investment in the latest operational machinery and processes. They are now recruiting for a Production Support Specialist as they continue to expand and evolve business activities, with the opportunity for the successful applicant to grow professionally alongside the business.

Reporting to the Production Manager, this is a vital operational position, managing the accurate receipt, control and flow of materials to support production processes and customer delivery commitments. This role plays a key part in enabling just-in-time manufacturing, managing stock levels, and ensuring smooth coordination between purchasing, warehouse, production and logistics. The right person will also provide ongoing day-to-day support to the Production Manager, acting as a key operational contact including to cover absences to maintain continuity across the production team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Goods In and Stock Accountability: Receive and inspect incoming deliveries for accuracy and quality, checking against purchase orders and delivery notes. Accurately record goods into the inventory system and ensure traceability. Label, store, and manage goods in accordance with internal procedures and safety standards. Ensure all goods received are logged and reconciled promptly, with discrepancies investigated and resolved. Maintain stock accuracy through regular checks, audits, and system updates.
  • Materials Planning & Just-in-Time Supply: Coordinate the timely call-in of raw materials and components from suppliers or external storage based on production schedules. Support just-in-time manufacturing by ensuring materials arrive only when needed, reducing excess inventory and supporting cash flow efficiency. Collaborate with planning, procurement, and production to adjust material requirements based on updated forecasts and priorities. Monitor usage trends and anticipate material shortages to avoid production disruption.
  • Production Support & On-Time Delivery: Work closely with production teams to deliver materials to the line at the right time and in the correct quantities. Contribute to achieving on-time, in-full (OTIF) performance for customer orders through effective stock management and production support. Support kitting and preparation of materials for planned production runs. Assist with basic production activities during peak periods to maintain workflow.
  • Logistics & Dispatch Coordination: Liaise with transport and haulage companies to organise inbound and outbound shipments. Book transport and schedule collections and deliveries in line with production and customer deadlines. Prepare and manage dispatch documentation including labels, delivery notes, and packing slips. Communicate any delays or changes in delivery schedules to internal stakeholders.
  • Support to Production Manager: Act as a key point of support to the Production Manager for the day-to-day coordination of warehouse and production operations. Provide cover during periods of absence, ensuring continuity in production scheduling, material flow, and communication. Assist in monitoring daily production and warehouse performance, flagging issues proactively. Help ensure compliance with operational, safety, and quality procedures throughout the production area.
  • Warehouse Operations & Compliance: Ensure warehouse areas are clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards and associated policies. Operate equipment such as pallet trucks and forklifts (training provided if necessary). Participate in regular cycle counts and assist with inventory reconciliations. Always follow and promote safe working practices.

Skills and Experience:

Essential: Familiarity with inventory systems and just-in-time material planning. Good understanding of production workflows and supply chain operations. Excellent organisational, problem solving and time-management skills. Detail oriented with the ability to prioritise under reasonable pressure. Proactive, reliable, and capable of working with minimal supervision. Collaborative team player with a hands-on attitude and comfortable collaborating with all internal functions. Committed to supporting operational performance and customer satisfaction. Good communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and with internal teams. Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CMS platforms ideally Dynamics 365.

Desirable (preferred but not essential): Experience in warehouse, goods-in and/or production support roles. Confident in communicating with suppliers and logistics providers. Forklift licence (counterbalance and/or reach). There may be occasional nights away from home on business.

This is a full-time permanent role, usual working hours are Mondays to Thursdays 9am to 5:30pm and Fridays 9am to 5pm with an unpaid hour for lunch each day.
