- Carry out a variety of carpentry tasks in void properties, including the repair, replacement, and installation of doors, windows, frames, skirting boards, flooring, and other wooden fixtures and fittings.
- Install and maintain kitchen units, cabinetry, and other wooden structures within the property.
- Repair or replace damaged or worn-out wooden structures and fixtures.
- Work with other trades and contractors to ensure all carpentry work is completed as part of the overall property refurbishment or maintenance plan.
- Carry out minor plastering, tiling, or painting tasks when required, to ensure a high standard of finish.
- Ensure all works comply with health and safety regulations and building codes.
- Maintain accurate records of work carried out, including reporting any further issues or required repairs to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Work to agreed deadlines and within budget, minimizing costs without compromising the quality of work.
- Liaise with tenants, housing staff, and contractors as needed, ensuring all work is carried out professionally and with minimal disruption.
- Adhere to health and safety practices at all times, using the required personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring a safe working environment.
- Ensure that all tools and equipment are well-maintained and used correctly.
Skills & Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience as a carpenter in a residential or social housing environment.
- Ability to undertake a wide range of carpentry and joinery tasks.
- Experience working in void properties, with a good understanding of the specific challenges and requirements for preparing these properties for new tenants.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and health and safety standards.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work with a range of colleagues, tenants, and external contractors.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Full UK driving license (if required for the role).
- Basic knowledge of other building trades such as plumbing or electrical work is advantageous.
