Cloud & Operations Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Cloud Operations Engineer to join our Tech team to be part of our continuing global IT transformation.

What will you be doing?

1. Cloud Infrastructure Management: Configuring, maintaining, and scaling cloud resources like virtual machines, storage, databases, and networking.
2. Monitoring & Optimisation: Tracking system performance, resolving bottlenecks, and enhancing efficiency for a better user experience.
3. Availability & Reliability: Implementing monitoring, backups, disaster recovery, and proactive measures to ensure uptime and data integrity.
4. Incident Management: Addressing and resolving cloud service issues promptly, conducting root cause analyses, and implementing preventive solutions.
5. Security & Compliance: Safeguarding resources with security best practices, patching vulnerabilities, and ensuring industry-standard compliance.
6. Automation: Creating automation scripts, deploying infrastructure as code (IaC), and streamlining operational tasks to boost efficiency.
7. Disaster Recovery: Developing and testing recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
8. Collaboration & Documentation: Supporting teams, troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining up-to-date documentation of systems and processes.
9. Cost Management: Monitoring usage, optimising costs, and maintaining performance levels efficiently.
10. Continuous Improvement: Staying up-to-date on emerging cloud technologies and suggesting system enhancements.

About you

Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience

1. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
2. Strong understanding of cloud-based infrastructure components, services and networking as well as proven experience managing cloud environments (e.g. Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
3. Familiarity with infrastructure provisioning tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
4. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure to troubleshoot complex issues and provide timely resolutions.
5. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience

1. Microsoft Azure certifications.
2. Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
3. Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
4. Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g. Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Elastic).
5. Experience managing on-premises environments (e.g. VMware, Nimble Storage).
