Datadog expert

We have a fully REMOTE contract opportunity for a Datadog expert to work with one of our clients, based in Southern Africa.

Duration: 3-6 months

As a Datadog expert, you will be helping our client with improving proactive monitoring through their NOC/SOC teams.

Your responbilities will include:

• Setup Datadog to be the umbrella fault manager to ensure a centralized view for the NOC/SOC team
• Working with other existing management platforms such as Solarwinds and cloud native solutions such as Cloudwatch/Prometheus to ensure monitoring of environment is enabled
• Review the different management system and recommend consolidations to avoid duplications
• Improve alerting on the management platforms to ensure quicker response by suppressing unnecessary alerts and ensuring that only relevant alerts are sent with proper dashboards which makes it easier to pick critical alarms
• Responsible to help us transition from a NOC based monitoring to a more service oriented monitoring looking at actual transactions, service quality indicators etc..
• Train the NOC/SOC teams on the monitoring tools and ensure that procedures and any other relevant documentation are done accordingly
• Optimization of monitoring solutions to ensure operational efficiencies, reduce costs etc… e.g. this could mean ensuring relevant logs are ingested into Datadog but not everything since this can increase usage plans
