Senior Manager, Taxation – GBM Finance

Position Overview:

Contribute to the success of the Tax Department in Europe by executing specific goals, plans, and initiatives that support the team’s business strategies. Ensure all activities comply with regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

What You’ll Do:

1. Act as country head for taxation in the UK.
2. Lead as a subject matter expert, advising senior executives and front office staff on tax implications of transactions and business proposals.
3. Oversee tax planning initiatives for Bank of Nova Scotia London Branch (BNSL) and Scotiabank Ireland DAC (SIDAC).
4. Address wider European tax issues in collaboration with the Tax Director, GBM Europe, and the UK tax team.
5. Lead the European tax function in the absence of the Tax Director.
6. Implement efficient processes for continuous improvement in reporting and operations.
7. Support strategic and new business initiatives, including regulatory impact assessments.

What You’ll Bring:

1. University Degree and/or Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, etc.) or relevant Financial Management/Accounting qualification.
2. Relevant experience in the role.
3. Technical knowledge of CRR, CRD, local regulations, and regulatory reporting.
4. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage stakeholder demands.

Additional Requirements:

This role is a Central Bank of Ireland prescribed Controlled Function. The incumbent must meet fitness and probity standards, demonstrating competence, integrity, and financial soundness as per the 2011 Fitness & Probity Standards.
