My client, a leading high street gambling company with their head office based in Central London, is looking to hire a Part-time Financial Accountant for 20 hours per week for an ongoing temporary assignment who will be responsible for the core financial reporting responsibilities while supporting a fast-paced, regulated business. The role is ideal for someone seeking a flexible working arrangement, with a strong eye for detail and a commercial mindset.
Key responsibilities:- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness in line with UK GAAP or IFRS
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure proper treatment of key items such as deferred income, accruals, and provisions
- Support statutory reporting, audit preparation, and regulatory compliance (including Gambling Commission reporting as needed)
- Oversee tax compliance processes, including VAT returns and corporation tax provisions, working with external advisors where necessary
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and treasury management, ensuring robust controls over player funds
- Liaise with other departments (e.g., compliance, marketing, product) to ensure alignment of financial data with operational activity
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, enhance automation, and reduce manual intervention
- Support ad-hoc financial analysis and project work as needed
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience in the gambling or digital/regulated sectors is highly desirable but not essential
- Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance, and audit preparation
- Proficient in accounting systems and Excel
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and flexibly in a dynamic environment
