Key Responsibilities of a School Business Manager:
- Leading on all aspects of financial management, budget planning, and reporting.
- Overseeing the operational management of school support functions including HR, premises, IT, and administration.
- Ensuring compliance with financial regulations, safeguarding protocols, and health and safety standards.
- Supporting the Headteacher and Governing Body with strategic planning and school development.
- Managing external contracts and service-level agreements to ensure value for money.
- Acting as the school's data protection officer and ensuring GDPR compliance.
- Leading a team of administrative and site staff with professionalism and efficiency.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience as a School Business Manager or in a senior operations/finance role within education.
- A recognised school business management qualification (e.g. CSBM, DSBM) or relevant degree-level qualification.
- Strong financial and HR management skills, with the ability to analyse and present data effectively.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational abilities.
- A solution-focused, proactive mindset and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.
- A clear understanding of safeguarding, compliance, and school governance responsibilities.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
