Quantitative Researchers – finance internships or experience required
Vertex Search are working with an elite systematic equities firm looking to hire Quantitative Researchers into the organisation at various experience levels. They offer great starting salaries, large upside comp potential and a large degree of flexibility in their hybrid work setup, alongside exceptional career opportunities.
This role will report to the Head of Research and the successful candidate will work alongside the existing team of ~10 researchers. They are looking for quants with commercial experience or a demonstrable interest in finance to help them expand their understanding of market dynamics, build out their quantitative trading systems and perform alpha research.
Researchers work with large, complex datasets and have the freedom to explore their own ideas whilst working collaboratively with others, gaining exposure to the end to end, 'full stack' research process. New starters will receive close mentoring and training from world-class Researchers as they develop their skills. They are also looking for experienced Quants to assist with such mentoring as well as portfolio construction & optimisation responsibilities.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- A PhD in a quantitative subject, ideally mathematics, physics, economics or similar. A Master's degree in a STEM subject with relevant commercial experience will also be considered
- A demonstrable interest in global financial markets, evidenced by internships or commercial experience
- Some fluency in your programming language of choice (they use Python for research)
- Ability to apply technical skills in order to understand complex market forces and create robust future predictions
- Enthusiasm for working in a growing team with a high level of collaboration across the entire end-to-end trading system
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Portfolio construction / portfolio optimisation and prior signal research experience is a bonus
